We have a City of Garland issue that needs our attention.
 
Garland City Council is considering some new creative taxation.  They are discussing the creation of new taxing entities called Public Improvement Districts (PID's). This is where new taxing districts would be created with the approval of the residents and/or business owners of at least 51% of the appriased value of the properties of in the PID.  Then a board would be appointed (not elected) to administer and collect the taxes.
 
There will be a public hearing about this on Tuesday, January 19, at 7:00 p.m. at Garland City Hall, 200 N. 5th St., in City Council Chambers ont he first floor.
